Well, my dad is currently in hospital eating rat poison to get rid of a DVT in his leg.
Not entirely sure how he got it, he's had it for a few days.

The doctor has told him he will be discharged on Thursday...

My dad, being a big Red, is trying everything humanly possible to get out on Wednesday.

Don't think the doctor understands about Man U...
Where in mac mail can you find delivery and read reciepts for email?

all I can find is google is people blathering on about people saying you shouldn't use them.

So...

Anyone got a better answer?

Mac Help certainly turns up no results, so I am currently assuming that the answer is "no you can't have them"... Adding another fuel to the "Mac Safari and Mail sucks" (and install Firefox / Opera straight away!)

Toronto

So... I've got 10 days in Toronto at the end of the month for work...
(I've got to plug in a DVD player and 7 PC's to plasmas!)

Anyone been there recommend anything touristy to go see?

And on a work note, anyone know an Internet Cafe / Wireless access points I can use?

Lisbon

So... I've got 48 hours in Lisbon for work...
(I've got to plug in a DVD player and two PC's to plasmas!)

Anyone been there recommend anything touristy to go see?

And on a work note, anyone know an Internet Cafe / Wireless access points I can use?
Anyone out there have protected no claims?

Or everyone go non protected?

Car insurance for me this year - £770 not protected, £860 protected... (not bad for an insurance group 16 car I guess given where I live too!)

Never had it before (this will be year 8 of no claims, and don't know why am ever considering it).

I know that even if I have a claim the premiums go up, and from 7 odd years claimless driving it would be reasonable to say I'm an okay driver I guess...

However... Something about 2008 makes me consider it...

What about you folk?
5.1 overall...

Procesor 5.3
RAM 5.1
Graphics 5.9 (sick!!!)
Gaming Graphics 5.6
Hard disk 5.2

:-D
I have a Dell XPS M1730 on my table top right now.

It is filth.

It is sheeeeeer filth.

And I want it.

Pics later.

Its amazing.

Client needs 20" widescreen TFT... Dell don't do 20" widescreen TFT's any more...
Sell client my 20" widescreen TFT.

22" TFT with shiny screen and built in webcam.

Sadly losing out on height adjustable stand from my 20" though... But other than that, I'll take it out for a spin later...

In other news - this late night post is brought to you by Relentless's new flavour, Juiced.
Tastes, like UHT orange juice...

Right - back to it!
Today was my first ever trip to Wallasey / Birkenhead.
Rather mad architecture round there...

Another rather odd observation was trying to buy a SATA DVD-RW...

I went to three independant little PC stores to find one (as PC World in Birkenhead hadn't had any in since January oddly).
Three little stores, not one had them... But they all had a pretty much similar answer as to why not.

SATA DVD-RW's appear to have advanced copy protection and wont knock off DVD's.

I swear.

That was amusing!
Well, the P4 "Northwood" era of my desktop computer use is about to end, and the Core 2 Duo is about to start.

One Northwood has turned in to a terminal services machine, and my gaming machine I am going to sell to a client.

My biggest thing I am going to miss is that I am also saying goodbye to my most kick ass of cases, the Shuttle SB75G2 - what an awesome rock steady machine...

However, it will serve a client very well, and I'll be able to say hello I am sure when they overload it with spyware, or something else, despite all my best intentions.

So - Tonight I will blast it and get it ready, and kiss goodbye to my Asus x850 graphics card with its blue LED fan too...

But yeah,

Going to miss them, they've served me well for a good many years.

And in its place, a bargainly powerful Dell Vostro 200 that I got for a steal...

But hey, enuff Geek... Back to the reformat, just need to find what the hell I've done with my XP disk!

Anyone else in Stockport / Manchester just have their house shake for a few seconds? Or just me??

Damn that was wierd...
...two for two from Dave...

The WRC coverage is really quite spot on.

Just wish I could "series link" the stuff...
...done and dusted... Box ticked, and a rather significant box ticked in my life for my musical experiences.

It was a good long gig, LOADS of SP Jams which they do so well, and just thrash away...

I was totally wrong in the music they played, they played something from everything... They missed one or two that I would have loved to have heard, but hey, they played stuff from the Aeroplane Flies High, Looks Left, Turns Right - which totally blue me away - and American Gothic - , they covered Gish, and I think they even covered Picese Iscariot.

I just wish there was one or two more in there.

And the most dissapointing thing, was no encore. That would really have made the gig pretty damn totally satisfying.

Alas...

Still... Big big box very much ticked, and to think I almost didn't go (very stupid of me). I wonder how many other people had been waiting since about 14 years to tick that box in the crowd? I've been waiting since what, 1994 when I first heard Siamese Dream. :-S

Just got to wait until they next roll around, but I am very glad it wasn't filled with Zeigeist, a mostly dissapointing album... (As was Billy Corgans solo effort the other year).

I know bands have to move forward, rather than rehash, but I'd dig a bit of a re-capturing of the spirit of Siamese Dream, or Mellon Collie...

Oh - and did anyone notice how small the bassist was? She was a proper pint size guitarist, I swear the neck of the guitar was taller than she was, but I'll give her her due, she gave it some all through the gig.

Rock on folks...
...awww yeah...

I can die tomorrow having seen half of the mega bands I want to see in life now.

(Although many lesser ones yet to see)

But tomorrow will be a dream some 12 years in the making.

Shame I didnt see them before now, I suspect there will be a lack of Siamese Dreams / Gish / Mellon Collie, and the new album is only "hummmmmmmm" good.

Still

Box ticked.

Nuff said.
...Nine Black Alps and Henry Rollins' Spoken Word on the same night!

How very frustrating...

Combined with having a meeting during the day in the Lakes...

Mucho Gutted...
Guessing that WRC TV coverage has dissapeared from "terrestrial" channels, I am watching the WRC coverage on Dave...

And IMHO, I think its pretty kick ass given the total and utter injustice given to it over the last few years...

Must stick it in the calendar to see if it performs well.

Like it - Decent WRC coverage at long last...
... however, I suppose I'd like to remark, that the last time I woke up "properly" was Wednesday morning around 8am...

With the exception of two 30ish minute black outs when sat waiting for computers to fix... its been three days...

Crazy...

But yeah

Just before I go to sleep I wanted to say "woah".

It's a wierd sensation, I doubt I'll ever be able to achieve again.

Still, work starts again tomorrow at 8am... woo...

Night folks...

(And the morning after, at 11:30am I've woken and I feel like I've got cotton wool in my head and eyes... crikey... And need to get my skates on as I am now going to be 3 hours late for work)
Today, as well as driving a few hundred mostly wasted miles, I did get chance to do two rather cool things.
1) Drive a Chrysler 300C Estate diesel (3L V6) -very tasty - just what I'd love to run around in. Enthused about it alot with the cars owner, and he let me take it out for a spin, and I zipped around the out skirts of Doncaster for a bit... Very cool. I like...

Good feel, good ride, nice drive, alsots... Really nice - (except for one small seat oddity, that I also have with other Chryslers..)

But then 2) came along...

And it was porn.
Colleague of 1) has the 300C SRT-8.

Oh yes he does... Bentley grill, the whole nine yards.

This I also got to drive.
Oh my word.
I would have pleasured myself to completion with that car... 0-60 in less than 6 seconds,
Awesome feel, awesome noise, awesome look.
Awesome porn.

Press foot to floor, meet horizon... Quickly :-)
Slow down, do it again...

If I wasn't so tired and on my way back out to work, I'd probably have a few moments to myself... But I am listening to the V8 in my head.

Awwwww yeah.
... I am going to East Ham and back...

Anyone reckon I will be back before midnight??

I've got to go plug in a DVD player...
No... Seriously... LOL...

Crazy banks!

Radio 1 better play some good music tonight...
